AI Procurement Maturity Assessment

Find out how your AI maturity compares to the market

Score your procurement function across five pillars in under ten minutes and see exactly where the gaps are.

Why measure your AI maturity?

Almost everyone in procurement now uses AI. Very few organisations have built the capability around it.

Weekly generative AI use in procurement rose from 50 percent in 2023 to 94 percent in 2024, the sharpest increase of any business function. Yet only around 37 percent of organisations have established AI governance policies, and only about a third report a mature, organisation wide upskilling programme. Individual adoption has raced ahead. Organisational readiness has not kept pace.

That gap is where the risk sits, and it is also where the opportunity sits. Teams full of enthusiastic individual AI users can still be immature as a function, with no governance, no verification habits and no connection between the tools they use.

Our AI Maturity Assessment gives you an honest read on where you actually stand, scored across five pillars and benchmarked against a market average of roughly four in ten.

The specific gaps behind your lowest scoring pillar, and what tends to move the needle first.

How to read your score

Most functions score in the lower half of the range. No single dimension of AI readiness in procurement currently reaches the threshold most models set for effective deployment, and governance is consistently the weakest. Reaching the Developing band, 50 percent or above, across all five pillars already puts you ahead of most of your peers.

A low score is not a failure. It is a starting point, and in most cases it points to a sequencing problem rather than a technology problem. If your Processes and Systems scores are low, the answer is rarely more AI tools. It is usually data quality and integration first. If your People or Governance scores lag behind the rest, the priority is policy, oversight and training before you scale usage any further.
